Mediatek Dimensity 9000 Shocks the Market: Outperforms Google Tensor Processor with Record-Breaking Benchmark Scores

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is one of the most hotly anticipated chipsets for 2022 flagships. Built on a 4nm node by TSMC and with ARMv9 hardware to match the flagship chips from Qualcomm and Samsung, it will be a close fight. One battle may have already been won.

Results have been uploaded to the AI Benchmark database, which shows the Dimensity 9000 scoring 692.5, leaving the competition in the dust. Below is a summarized table, visit the benchmark’s official site for a breakdown of the scores. Spoilers: the MediaTek chip won in all but three categories
Of course, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 are yet to be tested. Qualcomm is promising 4x improvement over the 888, but that won’t be enough to dethrone the Dimensity. According to Digital Chat Station, the new Snapdragon will score around 560.

DCS had more to share about the Dimensity 9000 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (which is fabbed in Samsung’s 4 nm foundries). Allegedly, the Dimensity chip uses slightly less power, but the difference isn’t much. The leakster adds that the SM8475, presumably the 8 Gen 1 chips that will be made by TSMC, are running cooler than the SM8450 (8 Gen 1 chips made by Samsung), but it sounds like the improvement isn’t as big as expected
The Dimensity 9000 is expected to be a pricey chip, allegedly costing twice as much as a Dimensity 1200. So, only premium devices will use it – the first should arrive in February, it might be the Redmi K50 Gaming.
